Do you work in the tech industry along McCarthy Boulevard? Say a sweet prayer for this station as you pass by on your way to work. City of Milpitas Fire Station No. 4 covers everything west of I-880 from Dixon Landing Road down to Montague Expressway. When incidents happen at work, these firefighters are the first responders.
The hazmat unit is housed at this station. There's a truck equipped with hazmat suits, air bottles, testers and monitors. The firefighters deal with chemical spills, for example, when a car accident causes anti-freeze to escape from a punctured tank.
Other important trucks are housed at this station. The command unit for the Office of Emergency Services is reserved for situations of mass casualties. In addition, the demonstration trailer for kids is kept in the back of the building.
