Blue Chip FCU was founded in 1948 as RDG Harrisburg Credit Union to serve the financial needs of railroad workers in central PA. Today, Blue Chip FCU is still growing, making loans and investing the savings of workers from a wide range of businesses and other employee groups. RDG Harrisburg Credit Union changed its name to CenPennRail Credit Union in 1976. Its charter was amended to include employees of AMTRAK and CONRAIL who worked in central PA. Family members became an important part of the credit union. The name was changed once more in 1994, to Blue Chip Federal Credit Union, since the credit union had begun to open its door to other business groups in the area. Today, Blue Chip FCU continues to offer low loan rates and high dividend rates to its membership.
