Established in 1976, Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk (VIBS) assists the survivors of domestic violence, rape and sexual assault. It operates a helpline service that provides telephone counseling, referrals and access to emergency room companions. The helpline additionally offers information about obtaining orders of protection and victims' rights and options available in Suffolk County, N.Y. Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk employs counselors who provide assistance to older women and men who are victims of physical, emotional and sexual abuse, financial exploitation and neglect. It offers a program for children between the ages of 3 and 12 who have witnessed domestic violence. The program includes play, art and drama therapies, games and story time.
