Erin K. Engle, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and Clinical Director of Columbia University Psychiatry Specialty Services located within the Neurological Institute at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC). Dr. Engle is an Assistant Professor of Medical Psychology in Psychiatry at CUMC, where she also supervises predoctoral psychology interns and staff, and teaches "Introduction to Psychotherapy" to medical students within Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Engle completed her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at the University of Delaware followed by a Master's degree in Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. She completed her doctorate in clinical psychology within the Virginia Consortium Program (The College of William and Mary, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk State University, and Old Dominion University). Her predoctoral psychology internship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center-The Zucker Hillside Hospital led to a postdoctoral fellowship at Sarah Lawrence College Health Services, where she honed skills in the treatment of young adults with eating disorders, mood disorders, as well as suicidal and non-suicidal self-injurious behaviors. As a senior psychologist at Sarah Lawrence, she supervised postdoctoral fellows, headed the group psychotherapy program, and co-led her DBT consultation team, in addition to holding adjunct teaching positions at Yeshiva University and Monmouth University. At CUMC, Dr. Engle provides individual and group therapy for mood and anxiety disorders, using mindfulness and a skills-based, cognitive-behavioral approach. Intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy through Behavioral Tech, LLC, she specializes in the treatment of borderline personality disorder and self-injurious behaviors. Her clinical interests include depression, anxiety, bulimia nervosa, women’s issues, stress management, gender identity, LGBT, and interpersonal issues. Dr. Engle has articles published in peer-reviewed journals including Body Image: An International Journal of Research and Journal of College Student Psychotherapy.

Dr. Zachary K. Jared K. O’Garro-Moore, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Medical Psychology (in Psychiatry) at CUIMC. Dr. O’Garro-Moore specializes in the treatment of adults with mood and anxiety disorders as well as personality disorders. Integrating his advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dr. O’Garro-Moore is able to tailor his treatment to fit each individual’s needs. Dr. O’Garro-Moore completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This was followed by a Master’s degree and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Temple University. His predoctoral psychology internship was at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. There, he honed skills in the treatment of adults with trauma, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, as well as serious mental illnesses (Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, etc.). In graduate school, Dr. O’Garro-Moore’s research was focused on the process by which manic/hypomanic episodes initiate and remit; as well as the extent to which comorbid anxiety disorders effect the course of bipolar spectrum disorders. He has also been an author and co-author on several papers on the mechanisms that contribute to the onset of mood disorders, providing him with expertise in addressing issues related to depression and bipolar spectrum disorders.

Constance Abruzzese, PhD

Dr. Connie Abruzzese is a licensed clinical psychologist, a nationally certified school psychologist, an Assistant Professor of Medical Psychology at CUIMC and was an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University where she taught courses in assessment and supervision for three years. Dr. Abruzzese supervises clinicians-in-training at Columbia and created evidence-based groups in anxiety, depression, and OCD at the Day Program which she runs. She has received years of intensive training in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), including through Behavioral Tech, A Linehan Institute Training Company. Dr. Abruzzese also has special training in trauma and PTSD. Her research in graduate school and dissertation focused on factors that lead to the development of PTSD. Furthermore, regarding trauma treatment, she received specialized training in STAIR-NST (Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation - Narrative Story Telling), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT),Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT),Prolonged Exposure (PE), and the DBT PE protocol by the developer, Dr. Melanie Harned. Dr. Abruzzese previously led trainings and provided consultation to local elementary, middle, and high school districts implementing CBT and DBT programs within their schools. She was the Coordinator of OCD and Related Disorders at a large group private practice where she co-created and ran OCD Intensive treatment programs and supervised and taught psychology graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. She has specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
