Lahey Medical Center was founded in 1923 by Dr. Frank Lahey. This hospital staffs over 450 physicians and 4,000 nurses and therapists in several medical divisions. Lahey Medical's ambulatory care center treats over 3,000 patients daily. The hospital has 317 beds and is a teaching hospital for the Tufts University School of Medicine.
The Center's liver transplant team was the first in New England to perform an adult living-donor transplant.
