The Arc of East Middlesex, also called EMARC, is a nonprofit charitable corporation founded in 1954 by parents of children with mental retardation. It serves more than 700 people from Reading and the surrounding towns.
Many of the programs are funded through the Department of Developmental Services, but community support is still vital to the programs. Programs include residential support, job training and paid work, job placement, the Center for Emerging Artists, family support groups, senior support and recreation programs.
