Founded in 1887, Kamehameha Schools is a statewide educational system that is supported by a more than 6.2 billion dollar trust endowed by Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop. The system operates preschools and various campuses, including Maui and Kapalama Campus in Hawaii. It enrolls over 6000 students in kindergarten through grade 12. The school additionally offers distance learning, literacy enhancement, enrichment and career counseling programs. It maintains community relations and learning and neighbor island community development centers. The school offers financial aid and scholarships, as well as maintains swimming pools, tennis courts, and football and soccer fields. Kamehameha Schools offers a boarding program that includes lessons in personal development. It maintains a location in Honolulu.
