Emory University is a private university founded in 1836 and is named after John Emory, a popular bishop of the Georgia Methodist Conference. The university comprises nine academic divisions that include schools of arts and sciences, theology, business, law, medicine, public health and nursing. It enrolls more than 11,000 students and over 2,500 faculty members who represent all regions of the United States and nearly 100 foreign nations.
