Founded in 1990, Ruth Owens Kruse Educational Center serves more than 180 students in grades six through eight. It is a specialized center, which provides educational and therapeutic services to emotionally handicapped and disturbed students. The center is a part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, which operates various elementary, middle and high schools. Ruth Owens Kruse Educational Center's staff includes several teachers, specialists, therapists, psychologists, counselors, paraprofessionals, social workers, and security and office personnel. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as mathematics, social studies, science and language arts. In addition, it offers sessions in food and nutrition management. The center is located in Miami.
