Sarah H. Averbach, MD is a board-certified obstetrician gynecologist and associate professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at UC San Diego School of Medicine. With expertise in family planning and surgical management of gynecologic conditions, Dr. Averbach provides comprehensive gynecological care and specializes in reproductive infectious disease. She is also actively involved in research on postpartum contraception and expanding access to contraception and abortion globally.
Dr. Averbach completed her medical degree and residency at UC San Francisco School of Medicine, where she also earned a master's degree in clinical research. She is a member of various professional organizations, including the Society of Family Planning and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Averbach enjoys yoga and has provided reproductive health care to women in Uganda, Zimbabwe, Nepal, and Indonesia.
