History
Lotus is a family-owned business. The owner has been in business since 1985, starting in the Gaza Strip-Palestine (Chelsea Clinton visited Lotus in 1998 and enjoyed the food). When the Gaza War started in 2008, Moe and his family had to leave Gaza immediately, raising their lives in a matter of seconds. The Shawas came to the United States to survive the war and were able to begin a new by reopening in Los Angeles in 2009. In 2014, the family moved to the Bay Area to reunite with extended family and re-established Lotus in Oakland and San Bruno 2020.
