History
In the late 90's, the Cargasacchi family began planting grapes in the Jalama Valley and what is now the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. Having a background in environmental chemistry, Mark Cargasacchi began working at Fess Parker Winery as their oenologist where he also began making his first wines under the Jalama Vineyard label in 2004. From there he moved on to the same position at Rideau Vineyard until demand outgrew his production capabilities there. In early 2010 he moved to the Lompoc Wine Ghetto as Jalama Wines where he opened his first tasting room to the public in the summer.
