For 27 years, an early 1900s schoolhouse has been the welcome center for the Encinitas Historical Society.
Walking into the schoolhouse you find yourself surrounded by history, from the fully restored wood floors and ceiling, to the original desks and black and white photos covering the walls.
The Society hosts monthly historical walks in downtown Encinitas on the third Saturday of the month, September through July.
The Society also possesses more than 180 historical files on the city. Volunteers greet visitors and share with them a wealth of information about the schoolhouse building and city of Encinitas.
